Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday lashed out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and said that he "failed to respect" his father and veteran leader Mulayam Singh Yadav.
"So, if you are giving awards to Mulayam Singh, then why are you are not giving awards to Veer Savarkar and Bala Saheb Thakrey," Raut questioned the PM Modi government.

Listing the recipients of this year's Padma awards on the eve of the country's 74th Republic Day, the BJP-led government at the Centre on Wednesday kept up with its transformative political culture of honouring leaders in the Opposition with the country's top civilian honours.
The nine Padma Bhushan awardees include Kumar Manglam Birla (Trade and Industry), Vani Jairam (Art), Sudha Murty (Social Work) and Chinna Jeeyar and Kamlesh D Patel (Spiritualism).
The bypoll to Mainpuri parliamentary seat was held on December 5, and over 56 per cent of voting was recorded. The parliamentary seat had fallen vacant after the demise of SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav.
