After Anant Kumar Singh, the Janata Dal (United) candidate from Mokama, was arrested in connection with the murder case of a Jan Suraaj supporter, Dularchand Yadav, Patna District Magistrate (DM) Dr Thiyagarajan SM said that the situation is absolutely normal.
Anant Kumar Singh, the Janata Dal (United) candidate from Mokama, was arrested by Patna Police on Saturday night in connection with the murder case of a Jan Suraaj supporter, Dularchand Yadav, the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma confirmed.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Veena Devi on Saturday alleged that the local administration is not showing interest in investigating the recent incident in Mokama.
This comes after the man, identified as Dularchand Yadav, was found dead on October 30, and several others were injured following a clash between alleged supporters of the Jan Suraaj Party and the Janata Dal (United) in the Mokama assembly constituency.
The SP chief questioned the law and order situation and asked how such crimes could occur in areas where top leaders, including the Prime Minister and Home Minister, were campaigning.
Referring to the Mokama murder case, Yadav said, "Murders are taking place in broad daylight, names are there in FIRs, but still the accused passes by the police station and campaigns, he is roaming around with a convoy of 40 people carrying guns and ammunition. A murder has taken place,
Speaking on the matter, RK Singh said, "The Election Commission must ensure strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct. This is a failure of both the Election Commission and the district administration. It is deeply concerning and unacceptable during the election period."
The remarks came after a Jan Suraaj supporter, Dularchand Yadav, was killed during a firing between two groups while campaigning for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in Mokama.
According to the Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) of Patna, Ghoswari SHO Madhusudan Kumar and Bhadaur SHO Ravi Ranjan have been suspended in the case.
Ahead of the Bihar elections, BSP leader Ramji Gautam on Saturday asserted that they will end the jungle raj if the party BSP comes to power in the state.
Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal, on the Mokama murder case, emphasised that there is a rule of law in Bihar and assured that anyone involved in the case will be punished accordingly.
