Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut expressed her support for RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's statement on Veer Savarkar, saying the freedom fighter is far above the Bharat Ratna and that awarding him the honour would be a matter of pride for every Indian.
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, Madan Rathore, told ANI that some people are opposing the idea because of "not reading complete history", and highlighted that Savarkar has "suffered a great deal" and had continued to fight for the country without losing hope.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday questioned the BJP for not conferring the Bharat Ratna to VD Savarkar, asking RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to directly inquire from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Speaking to the reporters, Nikam informed that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat discussed RSS and its vision for India as a strong nation during the RSS' Two-Day Lecture Series on '100 Years of Sangh Journey'.
