It was a giant leap for India on Wednesday evening as the Chandrayaan-3 lander module successfully landed on the moon’s South Pole, making it the first country to have achieved the historic feat and bringing to an end the disappointment over the crash landing of the C
Special prayers were offered at the Ajmer Sharif dargah, a Sufi shrine of Moinuddin Chishti in Rajasthan's Ajmer for the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3's Lander Module on the Moon.
Speaking to ANI, hours before the soft landing of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar module, Dr Surendra Pal, said, "I am confident just like the ISRO scientists that we will do much better because a lot of changes have been done as compared to Chandrayaan 2".
Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday in a joint operation with security forces busted a terrorist module and arrested a terrorist associate linked to proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Shopian.
If any factor regarding the lander module appears unfavourable then the landing will be shifted to August 27, informed the Space Applications Centre-ISRO on Monday.
In a significant development, the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter which was already fixed around the moon established a two-way connection with the lander module of Chandrayaan-3 on Monday.
ISRO is bidding to make a successful soft landing on the moon, which will make India the fourth country in the world to achieve the feat after the United States, Russia and China.
"Prepare for landing! The final deboosting operation of Chandrayaan 3 successfully reduces the Lander Module orbit to 25 km x 134 km. Countdown begins as the destination moon draws just within reach," Singh said on X (formerly Twitter).
The second and final deboosting operation of Chandrayaan-3 was carried out successfully, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said on the early hours of Sunday.
