A special and fastrack court for protection of children from sexual offences has awarded a 20-year rigorous imprisonment to a man for raping a minor girl in Haryana's Jind district.
A man slit the throat of his eight-year-old daughter and threw her in the bushes thinking she was dead, but the minor survived and the accused was arrested, a police official said on Tuesday.
The accused used to live near neighbouring farm of the victim. Father of the minor girl lodged a complaint of the incident at Gaurihar police station in the district on Tuesday late evening, the senior police officer added.

During the investigation, it came to light that the minor girl was allegedly raped by 13 men, including nine photographers, over a week, police said. Special teams have been deployed to nab the remaining two accused in the case, they said.
Sharing details about the incident, Senior Officer of Dharavi Police Station Raju Bidkar said, "The 17-year-old girl had gone missing from her home in Dharavi in September. On the complaint of the girl's father, the police had registered a case of kidnapping against unknown persons."
