A POCSO court in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on Saturday convicted a man of raping and killing a six-year-old girl and awarded the convict a death sentence.
"The incident took place on Tuesday late evening, and the family members lodged a complaint with the police," said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jalalpur Devendra Kumar Maurya.
The incident was reported under Kamla Nagar police station limits in the city on Thursday. The accused were known to the minor girl and they lured her to join a party being organised in their locality.
According to the police, the victim, who was identfied as the daughter of a businessman, was raped allegedly by their driver of eight years in Mumbai's Sewri area.
Acting on a tip-off, police swung into action and arrested the accused within 24 hours after Senior Superintendent of Police Shailesh Pandey ordered his arrest.
A POCSO court in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli convicted a man of raping a six-year-old girl and awarded the convict 25 years of imprisonment in a five-year-old case.
The police arrested a 16-year-old youth for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl in Kurru Bhata village under Bango police station limits in Chhatisgarh's Korba district on Monday.
