In a post on X, Kharge, while citing recommendations from a Joint Parliamentary Committee and the Amarjeet Sinha-led High-Level Committee, said the government's refusal to implement a wage hike to Rs 400 and expand the scheme's budget reflects its anti-poor stance.

The central government has released Rs 7.8 lakh crore from 2014-15 to 2024-25 under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 (Mahatma Gandhi NREGA), resulting in the creation of as many as 8.07 crore rural assets, the government said on Wednesday.
