"Heavy to very heavy rainfall at many places, with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places, is likely to occur in districts of the Kumaon region. Heavy rains have also been forecast in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Pauri districts of Uttarakhand," said the weather department.
In view of the Meteorological Department's alert of heavy to very heavy rains in various districts of the Garhwal division, the Char Dham Yatra has been postponed for July 7.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the District Magistrates of all the concerned districts to remain on high alert regarding the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in nine districts of the state by the Meteorological Department tomorrow on July 7.
The Regional Meteorological Centre of Mumbai on Friday issued a yellow alert for rains in Mumbai and other districts of Maharashtra while it also issued an orange alert for districts of Pune, Raigad and Satara.
"In the next 48 hours, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at most places in the state and heavy to very heavy rain is likely at one or two places," said IMD Shimla.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) posted that moderate to intense rainfall over parts of Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas for a few hours today and advised people to avoid routes facing water logging problems.
The weather department forecasted rainfall in all parts of Gujarat for the next five days and sounded an orange alert for five districts of the state on Sunday.
