An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 jolted Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad on Wednesday, Geo News reported, citing Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Citing report from the India Meteorological Department, Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Thursday informed that yesterday's severe weather conditions have improved today over Jammu & Kashmir, which has seen widespread destruction due to heavy rain in the past few days.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on wednesday has issued a Red Alert for Chamba, Kangra, and Mandi as heavy rainfall continues to affect Himachal Pradesh.
"There has been a lot of rain in the state, and there has been a lot of damage as well. The electricity supply has been disrupted, drinking water schemes have been disrupted, people's lands have been damaged," said state minister Jagat Singh Negi.
Continuous rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir has led to a sharp rise in water levels of several rivers and streams, triggering flash floods in parts of the Jammu region. The Meteorological Department (MET) has issued an advisory on the matter.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in three districts of Himachal Pradesh, Chamba, Kangra, and Mandi, for the next 48 hours. Orange and yellow alerts have also been issued for several other districts in the state.
After a yellow alert was issued by the Meteorological Department, Tharali Police Station alerted local residents by making announcements in the area to ensure their safety.
The India Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall, warning of worsening conditions. The Lalsot bypass culvert is waterlogged, with cracks appearing on the road, further complicating travel.

The Meteorological Centre (Met Centre), Ahmedabad, has issued a nowcast warning of extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and squalls for 10 districts, including Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, Surat and Valsad.
The incessant downpour caused flooding across neighbourhoods, leaving residents frustrated and helpless. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of more showers to come.
