In a significant move to combat the menace of drug trafficking and to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, police have attached the property of a notorious drug peddler worth 7.88 lakh in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.
An anti-drug awareness campaign (Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign) was organised in Jammu's Rajouri at GMC Government Medical College under the J&K Women's Development Cooperation (JKWDC) with the aim of sensitising youth against the menace of drug addiction.
In its efforts to eradicate the menace of drug smuggling in the state, Baramulla police has registered 213 cases, arrested 343 drug peddlers, till August this year, according to a press release by the Baramulla Police.
"54 drug smugglers have been booked under the PIT- NDPS Act and PSA in the Baramulla district. These hard-core drug peddlers were operating in Uri, Pattan, Baramulla, Kreeri and Tangmarg sub-divisions," said Jammu and Kashmir police.
