Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Thursday staged a protest against the rape and murder of the PG-trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
On a call by the Supreme Court, doctors of the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, Indira Gandhi Hospital and several other hospitals on Thursday ended their strike in protest against the rape and murder at a Kolkata hospital.
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday approached Kolkata High Court for permission to conduct a polygraph test on RG Kar Medical College and Hospital's ex-principal, Dr Sandip Ghosh, and four doctors after finding discrepancies in their statements during the investigation.

"In view of the developments with respect to our demands, and our concerns being addressed by the Honorable SC, we hereby declare the strike to be withheld," the Resident Doctors Association said in an official release.
The top court said that how will public health infrastructure work if the doctors don't resume work. The top court also took note of the long working hours of the doctors in public hospital.
After Supreme Court's appeal, health professionals at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, Delhi called off their 11-day-long strike and are back on their duties as of Thursday.
In a demonstration of solidarity with the rape and murder victim from West Bengal, the state committee of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Himachal Pradesh, alongside hospital workers, staged a silent protest outside Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC).
