As Delhi grapples with severe flooding in many parts of the city due to heavy rain, there was a slight improvement. The water level of the Yamuna River declined to 207.47m at the Old Railway Bridge at 8 am on Thursday.
The rising water level of the Yamuna River has led to severe flooding in several parts of Delhi on Wednesday, prompting large-scale evacuations and relief measures.
On Wednesday, the water level of the Yamuna in Delhi crossed the danger mark. The water level flowed at 205.39 meters at 9 pm. The warning mark for the city is 204.50 metres, while the danger mark is 205.33 metres, and evacuation of people starts at 206 metres.
The Yamuna River in the national capital continued to flow close to the danger mark on Friday. Drone images from Loha Pul on Friday showed the water flowing close to the danger level.
A 45-year-old man jumped from the Mayur Vihar metro station and was admitted to the hospital. He was hanging on the railing of the metro station. CISF and Delhi Fire Service tried to rescue but he jumped onto the road.
"There is no information on how he went hanging from the railing of the metro station. We are trying to ascertain whether it was a suicide attempt or accidental. At present, efforts are being made to rescue him," said the police.
The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to entertain a petition filed by committees of three temples -- Purbo Delhi Kali Bari Samiti, Sri Amarnath Mandir Sanstha, Sri Badri Nath Mandir -- in Mayur Vihar Phase 2, challenging DDA's demolition notice issued on March 19.
