President Droupadi Murmu affirmed India's growth in all spheres on Tuesday, stating that the new Bharat is dynamic and progressive. She added that the country is moving towards entering the list of the top three global economies.
President Droupadi Murmu participated as the Chief Guest at the 56th Mauritius Independence Day celebrations and appreciated the growing ties between the two countries.
President Droupadi Murmu hailed the ties between India and Mauritius, stating that the relation has grown stronger through the decades, through securing the shared waters of the Indian Ocean, sharing Covid vaccines during the pandemic and supporting each other in global platforms.
The official ceremony, held at the University of Mauritius, saw President Murmu addressing the gathering with a compelling message for the Mauritian youth.
The decision would allow the younger Mauritians of Indian origin to become overseas citizens of India and to reconnect with the land of their ancestors.
President Droupadi Murmu held a "tete-a-tete" meeting with Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jagnauth on Monday to discuss ways to further strengthen India-Mauritius bilateral relations. President Murmu also presented a RuPay card to Mauritius PM as a special gesture.
Building bridges of friendship whilst training young minds, the ships of the First Training Squadron (1TS) comprising INS Tir and CGS Sarathi arrived in Port Louis, Mauritius on Monday.
As a significant highlight of the visit, President Murmu will be the Chief Guest at the National Day celebrations of Mauritius, marking a new milestone in the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
President Droupadi Murmu will undertake a State visit to Mauritius from March 11 to 13 and along with Mauritius PM Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, will jointly inaugurate 14 India-assisted projects, said the Ministry of External Affairs.
"President of India Droupadi Murmu will undertake a State visit to Mauritius from March 11 to 13 to attend the National Day celebrations of Mauritius on March 12 as a chief guest on the invitation of the Government of Mauritius," MEA spokesperson said.
