US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller on Wednesday (local time) said that the US works with India on a free, secure, prosperous Indo-Pacific and it will continue to be their priority.
US on Tuesday (local time) commended India on completing the world's largest electoral exercise - 2024 Lok Sabha polls spread over 44 days starting from April 19-June 1, and hoped for "continued close partnership" between the two countries after NDA's third consecutive win - Modi 3.0.
A joint statement of the three countries followed a meeting of US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell with Japan's Vice Foreign Minister Masataka Okano and South Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong Kyun in Little Washington, Virginia, on Friday.
The US State Department's Principal Deputy spokesperson said that China has a responsibility to "rein in and influence some of the malign and bad behaviour that we are seeing."
Miller noted that use of normal, routine and democratic transition as an excuse for military provocations risks escalations and erodes longstanding norms that for years have maintained peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
"We were asked for assistance by the Iranian government. We did make it clear to them that we would offer assistance, as we would do in response to any request by a foreign government in this sort of situation," US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a daily briefing.

Miller noted that Indian and Bangladeshi border security agencies are in communication and he would defer to them to speak about their respective investigations into the circumstances of the shooting.
"There's a publicly returned indictment that contains alleged facts or allegations. Until they're proven before a jury that anyone can go and read, I won't speak to them here because, of course, it's an ongoing legal matter, and I'll leave it at that," spokesperson Matthew Miller said at
