The Indian stock markets opened flat on Tuesday amid the anticipations of profit-booking as the benchmark indices on Monday remained close to the lifetime highs.
The Sensex surged 320.49 points, opening at 81,406.40, while the Nifty climbed 92.15 points to open at 24,915.30. In early trading, the Nifty saw a majority of its constituent companies advance, with 32 stocks gaining and 17 declining. One stock remained unchanged.
Indian markets opened with gains on Friday following the rally in global stock markets. Both benchmark indices, Nifty 50 and Sensex, gained at the opening.
On Tuesday, Nifty at National Stock Exchange or NSE opened in green territory at 24,839.40 up 3.30 points a marginal 0.01 per cent up, while the BSE Sensex opened with the red mark at 81349.30 down 6.56 points or 0.01 per cent.
The NSE Nifty 50 index opened at 24,379 points with a gain of 64 points, while the BSE Sensex also surged 193 points to 80,093 during the opening trade.
Indian stock markets opened the day's trading with minor gains on Wednesday. The Sensex opened at 80,481.36, up 29.72 points or 0.16 per cent, while the Nifty opened at 24,459.85, up 26.65 points or 0.11 per cent.
The NSE Nifty 50 index gained 40 points to 24,360 points, while BSE Sensex also surged marginally with a gain of 180 points to 80,110 at the time of filing this report. Tuesday marks the second consecutive day when markets opened on a flat note.
The Nifty 50 index maintained above 24,000 levels and traded at 24,022 after a marginal gain of 14 points at the time of this report. Similarly, the BSE Sensex sustained above 79,000 and opened flat with a gain of 40 points, reaching 79,086 points.
Indian stock markets opened at a record high on Wednesday with Sensex rising over 242 points at 77,418 whereas the Nifty opened at 23,629.80, up by 71.90 points.
