The Sensex surged 320.49 points, opening at 81,406.40, while the Nifty climbed 92.15 points to open at 24,915.30. In early trading, the Nifty saw a majority of its constituent companies advance, with 32 stocks gaining and 17 declining. One stock remained unchanged.
Indian stock market indices opened with gains on Monday following the global rally. On the National Stock Exchange, the Nifty 50 index opened at 24,943.30, up by 108.45 points or 0.44 per cent, while the BSE Sensex gained 346.93 points or 0.43 per cent to reach 81,679.65 points.
The Indian stock market opened with minor gains on Friday remaining negative for two consecutive days after the announcement of the Union Budget 2024-25.
As per the market analysts, the declining global sentiment after the disappointment that arose after the earnings disclosure of Alphabet and Tesl have greatly impacted the market globally.
The Sensex rose by 173.80 points, opening at 80,675.88, while the Nifty climbed 51.95 points, starting the day at 24,561.20. Out of the Nifty companies, 40 showed advances, while 9 registered declines.
Indian markets started the week with a decline following global market weakness after U.S. President Joe Biden opted out of the presidential race. Indian markets are also facing selling pressure ahead of the Union Budget announcement by the government.
The benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty both started the day in the red. The Sensex opened 83.92 points down at 81,269.85, while the Nifty began trading 47.60 points lower at 24,753.25.
