The fire and emergency services reached the incident spot immediately and were able to control the blaze following a two-hour operation. Five workers were also rescued safely. The local police and the Indian Army also swiftly initiated a rescue operation.
The fire broke out at around 8:40 am (local time) at a marketplace that sells vegetables and other essential goods. Firefighters, along with emergency response and medical teams extinguished the fire by 10:10 am (local time), Xinhua News Agency reported.
Hawa Singh, SHO of Jalupura Police Station, said the fire occurred at around 8.15 pm. Locals alerted the authorities, and the fire department was quickly informed.
