Congress demanded the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh over the law and order situation in the conflict-ridden state and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence over the situation in Manipur.
"Violence increased in Manipur due to Rahul Gandhi's visit. Violence by mob sponsored by some opposition parties including the Congress," the Manipur Food and Civil Supplies Minister said.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday hinted that external forces or elements may have had a hand in the ethnic violence, which has claimed several lives in the state, adding that it seems "pre-planned".
The Congress is all set to corner the Central Government on various pressing issues faced in the country including the Manipur violence, rising inflation, unemployment, and the assault on the federal structure of the country the way Governors of different states conducted themselves.
Later in the day, Hockey Haryana will face Telangana Hockey, Hockey Rajasthan will take on Assam Hockey, followed by a contest between the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu and Manipur Hockey.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that the Congress party is crying about Manipur when relative peace has come and added that this should have been done when there was a volatile situation.

"In the current situation, I appreciate Rahul Gandhi's visit to the state. However, the focus should be on solving the situation and bringing back peace. The issue should not be politicised," Sharda Devi said.
Even as Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday scotched rumours of his resignation in light of the persisting civil unrest in the state, the Congress's Bihar chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh demanded that he step down or be removed by the BJP if he fails to do so.
The order read, "The resumption of normal classes for all schools in the state, as issued vide order of even no. dated 19-06-2023, stands deferred till 08-07-2023 or until further order, whichever is earlier."
