Paris 2024 Olympics-bound Indian athletes were buoyant about their prospects at a ceremonial send-off organised by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) at the Ashoka Hotel here on Sunday.
The legendary athlete and IOA president was speaking at the launch event of the Indian contingent's official ceremonial and playing kit for the Paris 2024 Olympics, which will start from July 26 onwards.
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya attended the ongoing 63rd National Inter State Senior Athletics Championship at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula, Haryana as the Chief Guest.
"My conversation with Mirabai, Annu Rani and Abha convinced me that our athletes have received the best possible support in their preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games," he said.
The IOA President has written to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Raja Randhir Singh on June 26 to consider the proposal of including Yoga as a sport in the Asian Games.
"Under the leadership of PM Modi, the practice of Yoga which was earlier limited to our country has reached every corner of the world. Everybody is becoming a part of it. I want to appeal to everyone to include yoga in their regular lives to remain healthy," Nadda said.
