Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday slammed Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during one of his public meetings for Gujarat assembly elections.
"Lord Shri Ram ji had killed Ravana ages ago, but with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's statement it seems that the Congress has 'Ravana' hidden inside it. Only because of which his (Ravana)'s effects are seen in the party from time to time," Vij said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Gujarat's former CM Rupani said, "PM Modi's comparison with Ravana is an insult to Gujaratis and they (Gujarat people) will not tolerate it, this remark will make a dent in the party's result and benefit BJP in the upcoming polls, with making the grand old party lose the Gujarat elections."

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a no hold barred attack on Congress after its Interim President Mallikaarjun Kharge made a controversial remark on PM Modi.
"Congress is a party of elitist dynastic philosophy and mentality. The question is whereafter the party that talks about love apologise or do they support such statements made by the party leaders," said Poonawalla while talking to ANI.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday accused the senior leaders of the BJP of giving provocative speeches in the poll-bound state and thereby misleading the people.
The senior Congress leader further claimed that there is 'massive anti-incumbency' in Gujarat as he urged people to turn out in numbers to vote the Congress to power.
"Bharat Jodo Yatra is underway. It isn't only for elections and votes, we're also doing it to connect people with an ideology and that some people are trying to jeopardise values enshrined in the constitution. Yatra is meant to unite people against divisive forces," Kharge said while talking
With the Gujarat elections round the corner and the first litmus test of Mallikarjun Kharge as Congress president, the grand old party is seeking to boost its poll prospects in the state by addressing about two dozen public meetings.
