Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of making fake promises and telling lies to the people of this country, Kharge on Saturday described the leaders of the saffron party as a "gang of liars".
Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday reiterated his party's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the businesses of the Adani Group in the wake of the report by US short-seller firm Hindenburg Research.
The outburst came during a heated exchange of words between Union Minister Piyush Goyal and the leader of the opposition Mallikarjun Kharge who have been locking horns after Congress alleged Prime Minister Modi has "links" with industrialist Gautam Adani, showed images accessed by ANI.
Congress President termed the Prime Minister's speech in both Houses of Parliament as an everyday speech and said that the government is arrogant and is not answering important questions like inflation, unemployment or those posed on the Adani row.
Rajesh Pilot is the father of Congress leader and Rajasthan's Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, who had also served as an officer in the Indian Navy force.
"We asked many questions in the parliament focusing on how Adani became rich during the last 10 years under the Centre-led Bjp rule. Why are scams taking place? Why are banks providing loans to Adani?"
"Expunging of words should be done after considering all rules. We've also studied the rules as to what words they can't expunge," Kharge told reporters on expunging some remarks made by Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the Congress leader's remarks were "infused with insinuation against PM Modi and that's what we are objecting to"
Rajya Sabha Chairman in exchange with LoP Kharge who is demanding Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Adani issue said, "It seems you will set up a JPC on me."
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called him "Mauni Baba" while questioning his silence on the Adani issue.
Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 2 pm on Tuesday, after the Opposition MPs walked up to the 'Well of the House' demanding PM Modi to respond on the Adani issue.
