Jarange ended his fast at Mumbai's Azad Maidan on Tuesday after accepting the Government Resolution (GR) presented by the Maharashtra cabinet sub-committee on Maratha quota. Breaking down in tears, he described the moment as a "Diwali" for the community.
After Mumbai Police denied permission to continue the agitation, Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil, who has been on a hunger strike for the last 5 days, said on Tuesday that even if he dies, he will not leave the protest site Azad Maidan.

Patil has vowed not to drink water until his demands are met. This comes as the Mumbai Police allowed him to continue his protest at Azad Maidan for another day.
The agitation has mounted pressure on the Mahayuti government, which has formed a 10-member ministerial committee led by Maharashtra Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil to hold talks with stakeholders.
The Shiv Sena UBT stated that the court shouldn't intervene in the matter of extending the protest, as it remains between the government and those demanding the Marathi reservation.
The Maharashtra government on Saturday extended the term of the Genealogy Committee, chaired by the Tehsildar at the taluka level, until June 30, 2026, amid ongoing Manoj Jarange Patil's hunger strike at Azad Maidan in Mumbai over the Maratha reservation issue.
