The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court on Tuesday upheld Justice GR Swaminathan's order regarding the lighting of lamps on the "Deepathoon" in Tirupparankundram temple.
During the hearing, the State government submitted that permission would be granted only for the Santhanakoodu festival scheduled for January 6. It informed the court that similar permission had been granted in 2023 and that the same conditions would be followed this year as well.
Referring to the new law introduced by the Australian government that prohibits children below the age of 16 from holding social media accounts, he said that a similar legislation could be considered in India as well.
