The Madurai bench of Madras High Court on Friday directed the state government to pay Rs 18 lakh compensation compensation to two persons falsely implicated in the Paramakudi BJP leader's murder case.
Madurai Bench of Madras HC on Wednesday directed the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE) department to conduct a thorough survey or inspect the temple properties around Tiruchendur Subramaniya Swamy temple to ascertain if there were any encroachments.
The court issued the order after hearing a public interest case filed by one Seetharaman, seeking a ban on the use of cell phones inside the Arulmigu Subramania Swamy Temple in the state's Tiruchendur.
The case dates back about seven years when the decapitated body of a Dalit youth, named V Gokulraj was found near a railway track in the Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu in 2015.
The main witness in the 2015 Salem Gokulraj murder case, Swathi, has been brought to the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court in Tamil Nadu on Friday.
In its November 11 order, the Supreme Court had suspended the sentence of six-month imprisonment imposed by the Madras High Court for contempt of court on Savukku Shankar.
Madras High Court on Friday adjourned the anticipatory bail petition of two accused doctors to two weeks in connection with the death of 17-year-old football player Priya R, in Tamil Nadu.
The former cricketer also sought compensation of Rs 100 crore from the officer for making match-fixing allegations against him. The case was listed on Friday, however, it could not be heard and is likely to be heard on Tuesday.
"The golden armour cannot be handed over to either of the faction since there is a case pending in the Supreme Court over the party's leadership issue," the Court said.
