DMK Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday expressed gratitude to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for honouring former Tamil Nadu CM M Karunanidhi on his birth centenary.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his wishes and support for the grand success of the centenary commemorative coin release ceremony in honour of former Tamil Nadu CM M Karunanidhi.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday said that despite being from different political backgrounds, Rajnath Singh was his first choice to release the commemorative 100-rupee coin to mark the birth anniversary of former Tamil Nadu CM M Karunanidhi.
He termed M Karunanidhi as one of the most revered leaders of the country, a titan of Indian politics, an able administrator, an advocate for social justice, and a cultural stalwart.

Karunanidhi entered the Tamil Nadu assembly in 1957 and became the chief minister in 1969 after then-chief minister and DMK leader CN Annadurai's death. He passed away in 2018.
During the election campaign, praising the candidate running from Madurai, Kamal Haasan said that two good people are coming to Madurai. "A notice was posted that a good person is coming to Madurai today. I am not the only good person. Our candidate, Su Venkatesan is also good."
South Chennai BJP candidate also alleged that the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M Karunanidhi, was 'threatened' of action against him by the Centre if "he would have not donated the island" to Sri Lanka.
Hitting back at the BJP, which has been taking frequent potshots at his party over 'nepotism', ruling DMK leader and minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said he does belong to a family-run party as all of Tamil Nadu is Karunanidhi's (late party stalwart and his grandfather) kin.
"The Jallikattu arena, a traditional sport of Tamils, has been built by the DMK government in Madurai. The opening of this Jallikattu arena during the Karunanidhi centenary is an extra special feature. I am proud to have my name in history as Stalin who built the Jallikattu stadium." said
