While the city witnessed light rainfall in the morning, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) did not issue any severe weather warnings. However, persistent fog and low clouds created challenging conditions for aircraft movement, leading to disruptions through the early hours.
The weather in Dausa took a sharp turn following overnight rainfall, with the season's first dense fog blanketing the city and surrounding areas since early morning.
Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rainfall since Monday morning, leading to delays in local trains due to decreased visibility and waterlogging at some places.
The low visibility conditions made it challenging for pilots to take off and land safely, leading to delays and diversions of several flights throughout the day. Passengers were advised to check with their airlines for updates and schedules as the dense fog lingered into the morning hours
Rail services in northern India have been affected by dense fog and low visibility in the region, with over 15 trains running late as on Monday morning. For the past several days, rail operations have been hit by inclement weather conditions, primarily dense fog.
According to Indian Railways, on Friday morning, around 26 trains in the Northern Railway region are delayed due to poor visibility and other operational factors. The delays range from over an hour to more than eight hours.
"6ETravelAdvisory: With winter in full swing, many regions in Northern India are experiencing varying fog conditions. On some days, fog may be dense, while on others, lighter fog could still impact flight schedules," the post read.
The airport authorities said that there has been no impact on flight operations. According to the Delhi Airport authorities, the passengers have been asked to contact the concerned airline to receive updated flight information.
Among the affected trains, the Avadh Assam Express, which was scheduled to arrive at 07:07, is running 278 minutes late, while the Unchahar Express is delayed by 229 minutes. Similarly, the Vikramshila Express, expected to arrive at 07:20, is running 65 minutes behind schedule.
