The postponement of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman's (MBS) visit to Pakistan has created a squabble between the coalition government and main opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief said that the criteria for the next army chief's appointment should be based on "merit." "Whoever fits the merit, should be appointed the army chief," said Imran Khan via video link, during the PTI's long march, as quoted by Geo News.
Criticising Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for consulting Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, Khan said that he went to a house "made of stolen money" to meet a "convict" in London, Geo News reported.
Thousands of opposition supporters gathered in the city of Wazirabad in the province of Punjab ahead of the protest march. Qureshi addressed the crowd, promising that Imran Khan would take over as the leader of the march from Rawalpindi.
On Tuesday, the PTI chief termed the FIR filed by the Punjab province in the case concerning the assassination bid against him as "farcical" and added that his lawyers will soon put forward his position.
This comes in the wake of the assassination attempt on Imran Khan's life shot during his long march in Punjab Province's Wazirabad on Thursday. He has since held both the coalition government and military establishment responsible for the attack.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Haqeeqi Azadi march, which was halted after an assassination attempt on the former prime minister Imran Khan, would now resume on Thursday, instead of Tuesday as scheduled earlier.
