More than 71.64 percent of voters in five parliamentary constituencies of Assam - Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Kaziranga, Dibrugarh and Jorhat, came out to exercise their franchise in the first phase of polls on Friday.
After polling for eight Lok Sabha seats in the state was conducted successfully in the opening phase, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Friday said he was confident that the BJP would come out comfortable winners in all constituencies of western Uttar Pradesh.
Uttarakhand, which saw polling for all five Lok Sabha seats in the first phase of the general elections on Friday, recorded a voter turnout of 53.56 per cent till 5 pm, according to data shared by the Election Commission (EC).
CM Yadav also said that he was happy that over 1.09 crore voters would be voting in six Lok Sabha seats in the state which include Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat and Chhindwara in the first phase of LS polls.

"Some primary issues are clear, North Bihar is often battered by flood. South Bihar suffers drought; we want South Bihar to get permanent relief from drought. Corridor of Budh and Vishnu should be built in Gaya," the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader said.
