Delhi State Legal Service Authority (DSLSA) is organising a National Lok Adalat under the aegis of the National Legal Service Authority (NALSA) on December 14. Lok Adalat is a forum where compoundable criminal and civil disputes can be amicably settled.
Further, Lok Adalats are organized by Legal Services Institutions at such intervals as deemed fit in order to reduce the pendency of cases in the courts and to settle the disputes at pre-litigation stage. Lok Adalats handle pending court cases as referred to it by the respective courts.

Noting the plight of common men who are "fed up" with court proceedings, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud highlighted on Saturday the importance of Lok Adalats as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, said on Monday that the idea behind the six-day Special Lok Adalat, which started on Monday, is to settle small cases, while senior advocate Kapil Sibal termed it a historic day.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud had urged citizens, who have pending cases before the Supreme Court, to take part in the Special Lok Adalat to get their disputes resolved amicably and speedily.
The benefits of a special Lok Adalat include swift compromise and settlement of disputes, final and executable awards, cost-effective resolution of disputes and a refund of court fees.
In the 75th year of its establishment, the Supreme Court of India is
organising a special Lok Adalat from July 29, 2024 to August 3, 2024 to facilitate amicable settlements of suitable pending cases.
As per the press release of DSLSA, a total of 360 Lok Adalat benches were constituted at seven district court complexes, whereas in Delhi High Court, District Consumer Forums, Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRT) and Permanent Lok Adalat, 16 benches were constituted.
The National Lok Adalat 2024 was held today in Agartala, alongside other locations nationwide, focusing on the resolution of criminal, compoundable, and petty cases.
