Indian Railways is speeding up to deploy an advanced Kavach 4.0 - automatic train protection system across 10,000 locomotives and over 14,375 Route Kilometres (RKM) of tracks across the country, the Railways stated on Friday.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday inspected the Kavach 4.0 in Rajasthan and said that Kavach 4.0 has started for the first time in India from Sawai Madhopur, adding that in the coming years, 10 thousand locomotives will be covered by Kavach.
Talking to ANI about this manufacturing unit Vaishnaw said, "In Dahod, the production of world-class locomotives is Prime Minister Modi's commitment. Today marks the inauguration of the first phase of this factory."
The ambitious automatic train protection (ATP) system, Kavach, has so far been deployed on 1465 Route km and 139 locomotives (including Electric Multiple Unit rakes) on South Central Railway sections, as per a government release.
