The Delhi Police team at Vasai in Maharashtra's Palghar has recorded the statements of 11 people in connection with the Shraddha murder case, according to the sources on Monday.
One of the neighbours of Aftab Poonawalla, an accused in the Shraddha Walker murder case, on Thursday said that he had seen the woman only once since they shifted to their new location, while also adding that the accused always kept his doors locked.
The Delhi Police sources claimed that he had first chopped her body into 35 pieces, then burnt her face in such a way that it becomes unidentifiable even if the body parts are discovered.
According to the sources, the East Delhi Police had found a chopped head and hand in the Trilokpuri area of Pandav Nagar police station area of the national capital in June this year, which was nearly a month after Shraddha was murdered (on May 18).
The father of the deceased, Vikas Madan Walker, said that Shraddha considered Aftab a right man, which is why she did not listen to his advice of not being in a relationship with him.
The family of Aftab Amin Poonawalla, an accused in the Shraddha Walker murder case, has fled to an unknown location and is now untraceable, the Manikpur police station in Maharashtra said on Wednesday.
A senior Delhi police officer told ANI that since there are multiple discrepancies in Aftab's statement, there is a possibility that police teams investigating this case will request his mental and psycho-assessment test.
Accused in the horrific Shraddha Walker murder case, Aftab Amin Poonawalla who was arrested recently had attempted to dupe the police of Delhi and Mumbai in the initial days of the investigation.
According to the sources, the police are likely to call the victim's father for DNA testing after which the blood sample and bone sample will be sent to Forensic Light Source (FLS) for matching. The FSL will then conduct a DNA test.
