Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Monday informed that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to conduct a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists throughout the country after announcing the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections.
Speaking to ANI, Sanjay Nirupam said, "Assembly elections in Bihar are going to be announced today. I wish the voters of Bihar to participate in the voting and make the right decision."
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar clarified that conducting the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists before Bihar elections is both legal and mandated under the Representation of the People Act.
The party said that they want the Election Commission (EC) to clarify the final SIR list and provide details on the 3,66,000 voters whose names were deleted, including reasons for removal.
