Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday condemned the arrest of YSRCP Lok Sabha MP PV Midhun Reddy, terming it "a political conspiracy designed to silence those who stand with the people."
She accused Midhun Reddy of manipulating the state's liquor policy, altering the automatic order placement system, and collecting kickbacks. He allegedly funneled funds through shell companies, amassing huge sums of money.
Former Chhattisgarh CM and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel accused the BJP of targeting Congress leaders to defame them, particularly the Gandhi family.
"The common people of Chhattisgarh knew that there was a liquor scam ongoing in the state. After learning about scams, IT and ED investigated the matter. The ED investigation is still going on. Action is being taken against all those people against whom evidence is coming out before the ED.
The action comes a few hours after the agency carried out raids at Chaitanya's residence in Chhattisgarh. The searches were part of the agency's broader crackdown on suspected money laundering and irregularities linked to the multi-crore scam.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted raids at the premises of Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the alleged multi-crore liquor scam in the state.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Andhra Pradesh Government yesterday issued a formal notice to YSR Congress Party former Rajya Sabha MP Vemubaka Vijayasai Reddy, summoning him to appear as a witness on July 12 in connection with the ongoing probe into a major corruption case.
In a detailed 'X' post, the Congress MP mentioned that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has exposed that Jagan Mohan Reddy ran an alleged Rs 3500 crore liquor scam and how it became a "scientific" method for looting the public money.

Speaking to the media, CM Sai asserted that central and state agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the case, and assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
"In Chhattisgarh, a liquor scam of more than Rs 2 thousand crores was done by forming a criminal syndicate. The ED is investigating that case, and action is being taken based on facts found in the investigation," Arun Sao told ANI.
According to the ED, Congress Bhawan, Sukma, residential house at Raipur in the name of Kawasi Lakhma and residential house at Sukma in the name of Harish Kawasi (son of Kawasi Lakhma) have been attached.
