"All the MLAs passed a resolution unanimously regarding choosing the Leader of Opposition in the state and left it to the party High Command to decide. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will decide the leader of opposition of the state," Surjewala said.
Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and Congress Rajya Sabha MP, Digvijaya Singh, on Thursday said the party's central leaders will decide the leader of the legislative party in the state.
Union Defence Minister and BJP observer for Rajasthan, Rajnath Singh on Tuesday arrived to attend the legislature party meeting which is likely to decide on the name for the new Chief Minister in the state today.
"The Legislature Party meeting will happen today. The Observers will reach today...Everything will be clear by 5 pm today...I am not in this race (to become the CM)," said Rajasthan BJP Chief C P Joshi.
The meeting will be organised under the supervision of BJP observers for Madhya Pradesh, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, BJP MP K Laxman and party leader Asha Lakra here at the party office.
Amid suspense over the Chief Minister's candidate in Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is scheduled to hold its legislature party meeting in the state capital Bhopal on Monday and is likely to announce the CM for the state on the same day.
BJP central observers Sarbananda Sonowal and Arjun Munda arrived in Raipur from New Delhi amid suspense over the party's Chief Minister candidate in Chhattisgarh.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at the state BJP office here at around 4 pm under the supervision of the three central observers appointed by the party.
Sources from the party said that the meeting took place late at night on Tuesday. The three Rajasthan Congress observers briefed Kharge about the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting in Jaipur held on the same day.
"The decision on CM is to be taken after the report is submitted to the party president. Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy is the frontrunner for the CM post," sources said on Monday.
