Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said all efforts were being made to provide relief to people affected by the cloudburst-triggered flash floods and landslide in Ramban and attempts are also being made to restore traffic on the national highway.
The Indian Army swiftly responded to the devastating cloudburst incident in Ramban, providing essential supplies, medical care, and shelter to stranded passengers and locals along National Highway 44 (NH-44).
Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, visited the site of the recent devastating landslide in Ramban district on Monday and provided an update on the ongoing relief operations.
J-K LoP Sunil Sharma said that a BJP team has arrived in Ramban to assess the damage caused by the landslide. He assured the affected people would get financial assistance from the Centre.
PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti called for immediate action to help those stranded due to the Ramban landslide and requested compensation for farmers affected by crop damage in Jammu and Kashmir. She also raised concerns over the regularisation of daily wagers and illegal mining practices.
Gujarat Commissioner of Relief, Alok Kumar Pandey, has confirmed that all 50 pilgrims from Gujarat who were affected by the landslide incident in Ramban, Jammu & Kashmir, are safe and unharmed.
"An entire village has come down. Three people have died... It is a major disaster. I am hopeful that the government of India and the prime minister will take note of it..." he said.
