The India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Andhra Pradesh issued a severe warning against Cyclone Remal on Saturday, which is expected to hit West Bengal on May 26.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Agartala has issued a severe cyclone warning for the northeastern region of India and coastal areas of Bangladesh. Cyclone Remal is expected to make landfall in Bengal on Sunday.
Cyclone Remal is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by May 25, 2024. The system is likely to make landfall at the North-West Bay of Bengal, near the West Bengal Coast, on the intervening nights of May 26 and 27.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to visit the cyclone-ravaged regions of Vemuru, Tenali, Bapatla, Parchur, and Prattipadu in the districts of Guntur and Prakasam on December 8 and 9 respectively.
Several areas in Chennai continued to reel under severe waterlogging conditions on Thursday caused due to heavy rainfall in the region following Cyclone Michaung's landfall.

Around 8 people have lost their lives while multiple roads and subways are closed due to waterlogging in the wake of the Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Michaung', which is expected to make landfall on the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh between Nellore and Machilipatnam.
The IMD further said that Cyclone Michaung is likely to cross south Andhra Pradesh during the forenoon of December 5 with a maximum wind speed of 90-100 Kmph.
