Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday refuted the allegations levelled by the opposition, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), regarding the Nagpur land allotment scam. "Opposition did the work of defaming the government," Shinde said.
In his letter, of which the ANI has a copy, the BJP state president wrote, "The state Bharatiya Janata Party is demanding a CBI inquiry or by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court, on the illegal transactions worth thousands of crores as per the current market value and alienation of land."
Raut was arrested by the enforcement directorate (ED) on August 1 in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl in suburban Goregaon in Mumbai.

"We fought the case and the court's observation came. We didn't do anything wrong. I don't hold grudges against anybody. I've spent over 100 days in jail, what was my crime? There can be a difference of opinion in a democracy," said Sanjay Raut.
"It is not appropriate to speak on the decision taken by the court, the court has decided after listening to both parties. It is not right to speak to outsiders in a court case and I am a minister, it is not right to speak on this," said Minister Uday Samant.
