The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday opposed the bail plea of Ashish Mishra in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case in the Supreme Court. The apex court, meanwhile, reserved its order on Ashish Mishra's bail plea.

accused Ashish Mishra, according to a report will take five years to conclude, the Supreme Court noted on Wednesday.
Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday said about 14 people accused of cow slaughter were arrested during an encounter with miscreants in the Sarsawa area of Lakhimpur Kheri district.
In the press statement, NCW states, "The Commission has come across media reports wherein it is alleged that a transwoman teacher was expelled from a private school in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh due to her identity".
"Five people in the vehicle were killed in the accident, while others have been injured," Superintendent of Police (Lakhimpur Kheri), Sanjeev Suman told ANI.
The dengue menace is rising in Uttar Pradesh districts like Kanpur and Lakhimpur Kheri. Kanpur reported 13 people including children admitted in Dengue ward in government hospital on Sunday.
Several parts of Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district have reported an uptick in dengue cases with 9 patients currently admitted to the dengue ward in the district hospital.
The Supreme Court on Friday directed to list before the appropriate bench to hear Ashish Mishra's bail plea in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
