A Christian man was shot dead in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province on Saturday, in what officials say is the second incident of target killing of minorities in the last 24 hours, reported The Khorasan Diary.
The police took action after cases were registered in the respective police stations against the two social media activists namely Noorul Amin, a resident of Gandyali Bala Gumbat, and Aftab Hussain of Kot village.
At around 1 am, the terrorists attacked Saddar police station with modern and heavy weapons. The police personnel, who were already on alert, responded with retaliatory fire due to which the terrorists escaped in the darkness of the night.
The ECP in a notification said that the elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be held on October 8. Pakistan's electoral body said that the election schedule will be issued in due course of time.
Rising food inflation has hit Pakistanis particularly hard this year. Ramzan - the festival of prayer and lavish food preparations has been overshadowed by soaring inflation in the country as the price of fruits has increased from PKR 350 to 400.
During the protest, the speakers at the rally said that the government has not been able to control the profiteering and hoarding in Ramazan, making it difficult for the poor to make both ends meet, as per the Dawn report.
This statement came after the letter was sent to PM Shehbaz, urging him to ensure the implementation of the Supreme Court's orders in relation to the general elections in both provinces.
