Vipul wanted to invite West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to watch this movie. "She can criticize the movie after watching it. We are open to all valid criticisms. But we feel, she was misguided by a few people. Without watching the movie, she called for a ban."
West Bengal on May 8 had imposed a ban on screening of the film in the State to avoid "any incident of hatred and violence and to maintain peace in the State".

It directed the Tamil Nadu government that adequate security shall be provided to every cinema hall and requisite arrangements shall be made to ensure the safety of moviegoers.

Filmmaker Sudipto Sen's directorial 'The Kerala Story' has been embroiled in controversy ever since the trailer of the film was released. The film is currently running in theatres.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday said that the ban on 'The Kerala Story' is unnecessary and requested the concerned state governments to revoke the ban imposed by them on this film.
Filing its affidavit before the top court, the Mamata Banerjee government said that film can cause communal disharmony and a law and order situation, as has been gauged from various Intelligence inputs.
Helmed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film which was released last week in theatres has triggered a massive political row with various leaders reacting to the upcoming movie.
