Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto on Tuesday hailed New Delhi for its advocacy for the African Union to be included as a permanent member of the G20 while also commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the leadership of the global south in the geopolitical space across the world.
Notably, an Indian investigation team visited Nairobi from November 1 to November 3, 2022, and met the Department of Public Prosecution and the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Kenyan government.
Ministry of External Affairs Secretary (Economic Relations) Dammu Ravi on Tuesday highlighted that Kenya showed interest in trading in national currency with India, adding that Kenyan authorities want to hold a meeting with us regarding the same.
Ruto said he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have agreed that defence forces of India and Kenya will work together in collaboration, sharing information, experience, knowlege and intelligence to ensure that they deal with the challenge of terrorism.
Highlighting ties between India and Kenya, PM Modi said that the two nations are celebrating 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023. He stressed that India and Kenya have a common past and common future.

During his stay in India, Ruto will meet President Murmu. He will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan on December 5, as per a release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
