The members of the Awami Action Committee who were arrested during the recent four-day-long Muzaffarabad protest have been released by the authorities of the Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) on Wednesday.
In a significant move to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the upcoming Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Vinod Kumar, provided a comprehensive briefing to 15 probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySP) of the 2023 batch.
"In 2023, Kashi alone saw over 10 crore tourists. Following the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya after 500 years, tourist numbers have increased manifold, with an average of 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh tourists to Ayodhya daily," he said.
The arrested individuals are identified as Meem Sultana (23), Rubaiya Sultana alias Asha (20), Ritu Begam (28), and Jyoti Khatun (20) all residents of Bangladesh. The Indian citizen was identified as Kashem Miah (24), a resident of Sepahijala, Tripura.
The police said, as per reports, one constable, namely Sham Lal, joined District Kishtwar on November 9, 2023, while he was under suspension on account of his prolonged absence and indulgence in criminal cases.
