Continuous rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir has led to the overflowing of rivers such as the Satluj, Beas, Ujh, and Ravi, triggering severe flooding across several districts in Punjab.
In a post shared on X, the Shrine Board stated, "A landslide incident has occurred near Inderprastha Bhojnalaya at Adhkwari, some injuries are feared. Rescue operations are underway along with required manpower and machinery. Jai Mata Di."
Continuous rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir has led to a sharp rise in water levels of several rivers and streams, triggering flash floods in parts of the Jammu region. The Meteorological Department (MET) has issued an advisory on the matter.
Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh said that apart from the rise of water in the Chenab river, reports of cloud burst had also been received, which lead to washing away of National Highway 244.
Rijiju shared a post on his official 'X' handle stating that his convoy was on the way to reach Drass during which the incident took place. He stated that two people who were inside the vehicle were safely rescued.
"This is the beginning of new hope for the youth of Kashmir, as after years of unrest, they have finally got this opportunity. We will ensure that such tournaments are organised in all the districts," he added.
