As Kanwar Yatra commenced, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government will take strict action against those who are deceiving people, hiding their identity and harming Sanatan under Operation Kalanemi.
Speaking to ANI in Hapur, Govil said, "What problem should anyone have in telling their name and giving other details? The Kanwar Yatra is a religious ritual that must be performed according to specific rules and norms. It is our right to know where one can go."
The Uttar Pradesh Police have deployed the Rapid Action Force (RAF), Quick Response Team (QRT), and Anti-Terror Squad to ensure the secure conduct of the Kanwar Yatra, which begins on July 11.
The Uttar Pradesh administration held an interstate meeting with Haryana officials on Tuesday to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims during the Kanwar Yatra. The administration launched QR codes to enhance transparency and accountability at food stalls and dhabas on the Kanwar route
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the strict implementation of the verification campaign across all districts and emphasised tight surveillance at the state borders.
The meeting was attended by the UP Director General of Police, Chief Secretary, and top officers from UP and Haryana to coordinate efforts for smooth and secure conduct of the pilgrimage.
"We have made extensive arrangements in Shahdara district. It is one of the significant districts for Kanwar Yatris, as it is the route for those who bring 'jal' from Haridwar or Garh Ganga", the police official said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday reviewed the preparations for the Kanwar Yatra. He conducted a comprehensive aerial survey of the entire yatra route from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad to Bijnor.
Uttar Pradesh Minister AK Sharma on Monday lashed out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, accusing him of defaming Hindu religious events like the Kanwar Yatra and Mahakumbh for political gains and engaging in vote-bank politics in the guise of criticism.
Emphasising that adequate arrangements are being made for Kanwariyas, UP Minister AK Sharma said that the administration is ensuring that there are no potholes on the route and drains are covered.
