The movie is based on the 2022 murder of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor, who was brutally killed in broad daylight in his shop in Udaipur, Rajasthan, by two men allegedly angered by a social media post in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.
The much-anticipated film 'Udaipur Files' is set to hit theatres today, August 8, 2025, following clearance from the Supreme Court and the Central Government.
After the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) cleared the release of 'Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder', the son of Kanhaiya Lal, Yash Sahu, has expressed his happiness and said that now the entire nation will come to know the truth.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has dismissed all revision petitions challenging the certification of the controversial film 'Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder', thereby clearing the path for its public release.
"In childhood, they left school and ran away; in youth, they left their wife and ran away; in old age, they leave the country and run away," he said, adding, "They have learnt these values from their 'organisation', which had left the freedom movement and run away."
Ahead of Home Minister Amit Shah's Jaipur visit, Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot demanded answers on the investigation of Kanhaiya Lal murder case, a tailor who was beheaded inside his shop in Udaipur by two assailants in broad daylight on June 28, 2022.
