"The rains will continue for at least one week. The intensity of rain will reduce on July 24 and 25 but there will be heavy rainfall on July 26, 27 and 28. We have issued an orange alert," Surender Paul, Head IMD HP said.
"Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms very likely to occur at most places in the districts of Chamba, Kangra. There is the possibility of very heavy rainfall in isolated places," IMD said.
IMD tweeted, "Light to moderate rain with thunder is expected to occur over a few places in Una, Kangra, Hamirpur, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, and Mandi districts today, and heavy rainfall is expected in Kullu district."
"Moderate to high risk" of flash food over a few watersheds and neighbourhoods of Chamba, Kangra, Sirmaour, Shimla and Kullu districts till July 17," a bulletin issued by IMD said.
IMD Shimla Director Surender Paul said that heavy to very heavy rain very is likely to occur during next four to five days in the seven districts of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Bilaspur, Mandi, Kangra and Hamirpur districts of the state.
According to the weather department, different areas of Kangra, Chamba, Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur, Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, and Solan districts are expected to get light rainfall with thunderstorms in the next 2-3 hours.

While speaking to ANI, SP Kangra Shalini Agnihotri said, "District police control room received two phone calls yesterday one at around 4 pm and another at 5 pm that four persons are stranded at Bhagsu waterfall and five more at a different location near Naddi."
Shalini Agnihotri, Superintendent of Police, Kangra, said, "At around 10 pm last night, we rescued around 26 persons in the Kareri Lake area who were stranded due to heavy rain."
