Pakistan's political outfit, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman's convoy, came under attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dera Ismail Khan, Geo News reported on Sunday.
The decision of PML-N comes a day after the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) request to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), seeking an extension in the deadline for filing nomination papers by three days.
In a press conference in Sukkur, Soomro questioned the PPP's strategy for campaigning in Punjab and other provinces following its lackluster performance in Sindh, citing widespread issues such as poor education and healthcare.
The two political parties also agreed on seat adjustments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan. The political forces agreed to field candidates for national and provincial seats after 'mutual consensus', they added.
In a post on X, the Maulana said he expressed condolences and solidarity with the Hamas leadership, on behalf of Pakistan and the party, for the ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza. He said that he assured them that "we stand by your side in every moral, political, and diplomatic field".
Amid the tensions related to Pakistan general elections, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) claimed that PPP is the "only" political party in the country that wanted timely elections, Dawn reported.
The two parties made the announcement after a JUI-F delegation led by Molana Rashid Mehmood Soomro held a meeting with the MQM-P Rabita Committee at their temporary headquarters in Karachi's Bahadurabad.
As many as 11 people including Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah were injured in a blast in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Thursday, Dawn reported.
Meanwhile, no name has been finalized yet for the appointment of the caretaker chief minister. According to sources, the first round of talks between JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and BNP-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal was held in Islamabad on Friday.
