Chairman of the Joint Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024, Jagdambika Pal, arrived for a meeting of the Committee in Parliament premises on Thursday.
"We will only be able to reach our goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 if we are able to fasten the development works and that can only happen when the model code of conduct is implemented less frequently," Chaudhary told reporters.
The current JPC will have 27 members from LS and 12 from RS. The committee will be tasked to submit the report to Lok Sabha on the first day of the last week of the next session of Parliament.
Just before Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Friday, the House adopted the motion moved by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal regarding forming the joint committee for two bills on 'One Nation One Election.' Twelve members have twelve Upper House members to discuss the bill.

The committee will engage with Syed Abubakar Naqvi, the former Chairman and State Minister of the Waqf Board in Rajasthan, and Prof. Mahrukh Mirza, the former Vice Chancellor of Khwaja Chishti Moinuddin Language University, Lucknow. The meeting is scheduled to take place around noon.
