A 35-member expert committee report on Joshimath landslide and subsidence issue has recommended a complete ban on new construction in the entire Joshimath area till the end of the coming monsoon.
He said that after inspection the CBRI team reported minor cracks around old cracks, which developed in the previous incident of land subsidence earlier this year, in buildings.

The other relief measures include a special rehabilitation package, a one-time special grant for the transportation of goods and immediate needs and the purchase of household items, Khurana said.
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) on Saturday informed that the number of buildings with cracks has not increased and till now 863 buildings with cracks have been noticed due to land subsidence and landslides in the Joshimath town area of Uttarakhand.
District Magistrate of Uttarakhand's Chamoli, Himanshu Khurana said on Friday that a prefabricated cow shed has been prepared for the animals affected due to land subsidence in the Joshimath town.
Addressing a press conference here in Dehradun, CM Dhami asserted that the state is not facing as much problem in Joshimath and adjoining areas as is being projected. He said 70 per cent normalcy has returned to Joshimath.
