Former President of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) Dhananjay has filed a complaint with the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) against JNU Vice Chancellor Santishree D. Pandit over allegedly hateful remarks made on a public platform.
In a statement, the All India Students Association (AISA) said, "As the forces of Manuvad unleash a united attack against social justice, the legacy of Ambedkar must prevail!"
The Union alleged that the attackers were against the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, adding that the "goons" were "given full freedom" to attack the students by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Santishree D Pandit.
Animesh Kumar, a resident of Kaveri Hostel and student at JNU, stated in his complaint that the incident occurred while he was returning from a DJ party organised by the French Centre. He said he had stopped briefly near the School of Languages Building-1 when he noticed a crowd allegedly
"Strict action under University's rules & regulations and under BNS is being taken to ensure proper academic environment in the campus.", the statement said.
The alleged clash that erupted at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Monday between the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Left-affiliated student groups resulted in several students being injured and has led to conflicting accounts from both sides.
